The Marriage of Cantonese Roasted Pork Belly (Siew Yoke) With Indian Biryani
Singapore is a multi-racial country and we are a food paradise that has many different cultures of food and cuisines. Besides that, we also have fusion food that combines the Western traditional style of cooking techniques or ingredients with Eastern.
What will happen if Chinese food meets Indian food?
Well, here is the latest mixture of Chindian food.
Chop Chop Biryani & Meats had created this Chindian food by combining our local favorite roasted pork belly (Siew Yoke) with Indian Biryani.
The co-founder, Gino Goh who used to work as a junior cook before venturing out to the hawker stall in 2017.
He shared that this idea came from a potluck party when he saw both dishes were been placed side by side on the same table. It took 3 months of testing to perfect the recipe.
How Does The Roasted Pork Belly (Siew Yoke) Biryani Taste?
To ensure you received your food hot and fresh, they only scoop the rice and chop the meat after you had ordered.
First, let us talk about the papadum. Unlike the usual biryani stalls, the papadum was fresh and crispy without any of the oily taste.
The Siew Yoke is roasted nicely. The pork belly is tender with crispy pork cracking and blend well with the biryani rice.
The rice is fragrant with a mix of spices such as cloves and star anise but the spiciness level of the rice is not strong as compared to the traditional Indian Biryani.
However, the slight spiciness of the rice brings out the saltiness of the roast pork belly. This is the first time we tasted such a SHIOK combination and have to admit it is really delicious.
Besides that, the stall also sells the other types of biryani such as the pork masala and char siew biryani at an affordable price which is under $10.
You definitely have to try this tasty Roasted Pork Belly (Siew Yoke) biryani.
